He started pitching after entering Jangchung High School, and he has not been a pitcher for a very long time. Nevertheless, he received good reviews and wore KT's uniform as the 29th overall pick in the third round. "I originally wanted to be a pitcher, but they didn't let me because I was small. But I grew more than 10cm before entering high school, and I wanted to be a pitcher in high school, so I started pitching since I was a freshman," Kim Jae-won said. 

Kang Baek-ho, who stood next to the catcher during bullpen pitching, was impressed by Kim Jae-won's slider and asked for a grip. "I've heard a lot that throwing the ball is pretty," Kim Jae-won said, "Slider is the most confident pitch type, and I felt good that the batters who played live batting with the catcher hyung all complimented me that the slider was good, so I was recognized. I felt the best when Baekho complimented me."
